From checked market data to a documented strategy test. In QANTERIS FOUNDRY you work with StrategyQuant X (SQX), build your own testing workflow and compare a suitable strategy with MetaTrader 5 on demo.

  1. 01Check data and costs
  2. 02Generate strategies
  3. 03Test robustness
  4. 04Compare on demo

What you will learn

Operate the software

Set up StrategyQuant X, navigate its modules and reports, and check the settings of your run.

Use suitable data

Check timestamps, instrument specifications and costs against the conditions of your target account.

Build a testing workflow

Generate candidates, test their robustness and document your selection using metrics and fixed thresholds.

Compare with MetaTrader 5

Compare a suitable individual strategy in SQX and MT5. Record symbol mapping and the demo comparison in a consistency log.

What you need to know

  • You know charts, candles, orders, positions, accounts, brokers and demo accounts.
  • The course introduces algorithmic trading concepts and the technical setup. STARTER is optional.
  • The trial may cover the first steps. You need StrategyQuant X Professional before module 8. Buy the software licence separately.

Individual strategies first, portfolios next.

  • FOUNDRY ends with a tested individual strategy and its documented comparison on demo.
  • Portfolio construction and ongoing operations follow in ARCHITECT.
  • A well-documented rejection or a search with no suitable candidate is a valid learning result.

10

Test robustness systematically

  • Match Cross-Checks and Monte Carlo tests to the questions they answer.
  • Check parameter sensitivity and compare Optimizer runs.
  • Explore the conditions and limitations of Walk-Forward testing.
11

Analyse rejections and computing effort

  • Read rejection statistics and calculate the pass rate at each stage.
  • Find bottlenecks and choose a focused change for the next measurement run.
12

Build your testing workflow and compare with MT5

  • Create your own Custom Projects workflow and document its version.
  • Apply the workflow to another instrument.

Frequently asked questions

What should I know before starting?

You should know charts, candles, orders, positions and demo accounts. FOUNDRY introduces algorithmic trading concepts and the technical setup. STARTER is optional.

Which StrategyQuant X licence do I need?

The trial may cover the first steps. You need StrategyQuant X Professional before module 8. The software licence is a separate purchase.

Do I need programming skills for FOUNDRY?

You do not need a general programming background for the workflow taught in FOUNDRY. You configure and test strategies through the SQX interface, with guidance on exporting and compiling for MetaTrader 5. Understanding the rules and checking the results remain your responsibility. The course does not provide general MQL5 or Python training.

Does FOUNDRY cover CFDs and forex?

The practical work follows a CFD reference case. For forex or currency pairs, you check the instrument type your broker actually offers, along with its data, contract specifications and costs. The course does not cover every instrument or broker.

Does FOUNDRY end with a portfolio?

FOUNDRY ends with an individual tested strategy and its documented comparison on MT5 demo. Portfolio construction and operations follow in ARCHITECT.

What if my search finds no suitable strategy?

Document your requirements, tests and rejection reasons. A properly justified search with no suitable candidate is a valid learning result. Keep the criteria in place.

How do I check a strategy in MetaTrader 5?

You export a suitable SQX strategy as an Expert Advisor (EA), a program that executes its rules in MetaTrader 5. The course guides you through compiling it and testing it on a demo account. You match the symbol, timeframe, trading hours, costs and position size to the SQX test and record the comparison in a consistency log.

Your next step

Once your testing workflow is established, focus on how strategies work together. ARCHITECT covers the demo portfolio and its operating rules.
